If you want to get a better glimpse of who I am...
I can be pretty intense... I need to be obsessed and fully dedicated to whatever task I work on.
As a competitor, I hate being average at something. I either strive to to be the best or not do it at all. I'm not proud of it, but I often did the absolute minimum in school to focus on my two obsessions: table tennis and programming.
Although my dream of being a professional ping pong player was short-lived, it gave me so many other opportunities in life.
I eventually managed to get a world ranking of #317 in table tennis, played all over the world (including semi-professionally for a few years in China), and got the chance to coach two national teams at two separate world championships.
My other passion... From 12 years old, I got obsessed with building websites, then electronics and robotics, and discovering “hacking“ (doing a lot of stupid stuff).
What I call being a hacker today is more of a mentality, to be driven by curiosity to understand how things work, not by malicious intent.
I have always reinvented myself over the years. In a strange twist of life, I decided to study for a fancy MBA, thinking it would help me become a better entrepreneur and would lead to the creation of a new venture right after graduation. Well, I got derailed and ended up taking a “MBA job“ instead... Don't get me wrong, I learned a lot and met amazing people at INSEAD, but the typical MBA consulting job is definitely not for me.
While I appreciate being part of driving company strategy, at the end of the day, I'm a builder at heart.
My entrepreneurial spirit remains strong, even if I'm not currently running my own business. At my core, I'm still that problem-solving hacker, always eager to create and innovate.
Being a hacker / entrepreneur:
From queuing at the French chamber of commerce before turning 18 to open my first company selling websites as a “micro“ entrepreneur, to running multiple startups, to today as an employee. I always feel a strong sense of ownership for whatever product I work on. I will certainly be back at running my own business in the future, but for now, I want to continue working on my skills and experiment with many different products.
I have always had my own “home lab“ or run my own servers. You can see the evolution from my small apartment in Paris...
To my current home office in Hong-Kong...
My favorite learning tool is to rebuild from scratch to make sure I really understand how things work. Most of the projects I share here started as learning tools and sometimes become products.
Sadly, I stopped electronics and robotics when leaving France in 2008. But moving forward, I will refocus on building products combining hardware and software.
My most recent personal projects have been focused on leveraging AI models to interact with the environment (audio and video), and this will also be highlighted in soon-to-be-released projects.
Stay tuned...
